Our Approach to Financial Planning
What do you feel when you hear the term 'financial planning'? Apprehensive because planning will tell you things you would rather not know. Excited because you can map out the next stages of your life with confidence.
Embracing taxation, budgeting, investment skills and forecasting; financial planning is something that few people are trained to do and it's confusing to many of us.
When dealing with unfamiliar things, for example; building flat-pack furniture, cooking the perfect meal, or undertaking DIY in the home, we tend to reach for the instruction manual. It shows us how end result should look, lists the resources we need, and provides a step by step guide to follow.
With something as individual and important as financial security and independence there is no "off the shelf" instruction manual. As a result, people develop financial strategies based on fear, greed, ignorance and inertia - rarely a guarantee of success, and leaves people feeling frustrated, short-changed and fearful about their long term financial security.
At Yellowtail we believe that everybody should have their own financial planning manual, which is what our four step process provides. Because each client has different goals and different resources, each manual is as unique and individual as our clients.
Most financial advisers are little more than glorified personal shoppers, flitting here and there to find off the shelf financial products to sell to you. On the other hand we spend time working with you to discover what you want, determining the probability of achieving it, before creating your personalised financial plan which we implement together.
