At Yellowtail looking out for our client's best interests is at the heart of everything we do, even if it means losing a client. We realize that might sound a little strange so we'd better explain. We are not in the business of selling financial products; yes we do recommend them, we even help arrange them, but we don't actually sell them. What we sell is advice and planning, and that involves brain power and time, not selling skills and persuasion tactics.

So, when we come across situations where the costs of our brain power and time would outweigh the financial benefits for a prospective client, we tell them; and then we point them in the right direction for the kind of advice they need at an affordable price.

We value building long-term relationships and working with you to accomplish your financial goals. We believe the only way to do this is in offering a pure fee only service. This removes any conflicts of interest and any potential bias to sell you a financial product simply to earn the commission.

Something we've noticed is that when people understand that it's actually advice and planning they want, and not the next "hot" investment, they have better engagement with the financial planning process. Meetings then become more collaborative and more educational, and our clients tend to speak to us more often because we're not constantly trying to sell them another plan.

How might that help you? Ideally you'll understand more about why you are making certain decisions about your money. You have an unbiased sounding board to discuss alternative options, and the inevitable changes that occur throughout your life, in short you end up with a trusted adviser - and that's a rare thing in our experience.
